Do you find the obsession with snow at so-many-metres a bit strange?
back in the UK it was snow or no snow ... usually no snow... and I rarely recall discussion about elevation except when they occasionally said... "Perhaps moderate accumulations over the hills."
LOL. I think the obsession with snow and meters goes along with pretending there is no winter in NZ. There's snow on the hill, but I'm not wearing any shoes!
I get so excited by snow on the hills - a little more and a little closer would make for some real fun. As I drove along the South Coast road with my youngest daughter today she asked, 'Mummy, can we go sledging on the Kaikouras?' - They may look close - in her eyes - but erm, it was quite a geography lesson explaining the logistics involved in getting there. Perhaps a weekend up Mt Ruapehu is called for before the season is out!
