In NZ, it is called a kiwifruit (this is a golden kiwifruit).
I learnt that a kiwi is a . . . small, flightless bird.
It is usually nocturnal.
They used to be called Chinese Gooseberries, they didn't become Kiwifruit until the late 70's. Also Tamarillo's used to be called tree tomatoes, they changed their name about the same time too!!! How about that for useless bits of information!
